Get to know me

I was born and raised in Leicestershire.

Art and music was already a huge part of my life since I was young since my parents both have careers in music and have delved into art. In fact I took music so seriously that it almost became a career choice.

During school I always took an interest in art, but at the time I was looking at a more academic route. It wasn’t until 2017, during my first term at university when I was taking an Animal Behaviour and Training course, that I realised photography appealed to me.

During the photography course that I started in 2018, I fell in love with analogue photography and now prefer it to digital. I love taking inspiration from songs and lyrics, still keeping in touch with my musical side, and usually express messages through symbolism.

Thanks to photographers like Leanne Surfleet and Kirsty Mitchell, I also became more and more fascinated in self-portraiture and I realised personally how important this art form was. Having low self-esteem and anxiety is really hard to deal with and is still something I am battling. But through photography I can deal with these issues without having to use words, but rather through symbolism.
